Kia Motors America (KMA) continues its impressive string of Super Bowl commercials with its Super Bowl XLIX commercial this Sunday in the third quarter — the “Perfect Getaway” stars action hero icon Pierce Brosnan and the 2016 Kia Sorento CUV.

The commercial is the broadcast debut of the new 2016 Kia Sorento — already in stock with more coming each day to Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield Valley. In “Perfect Getaway,” Brosnan listens to a Hollywood agent pitching the starring role in an upcoming film. As the agent describes various scenes, Brosnan confidently interjects one movie cliche after another, wrongly assuming he and the Sorento will encounter danger at every turn.

Kia Forte earns biggest mark in Motor Trend compact sedan test

Forte bests competition in value and features, EPA fuel efficiency

The Kia Forte — available at Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield Valley — outperformed four competitors in Motor Trend’s Big Test comparison for compact sedans. The judges at Motor Trend ranked five competitors — Kia Forte, Dodge Dart, Honda Civic, Mazda3 and Nissan Sentra — in six standard categories. The six categories Motor Trend generally measures for its Big Tests are Ride and Handling, Performance, Efficiency, Cockpit/Cabin, Safety and Value.

In Ride and Handling, the Kia Forte held its own and was one of the top choices for the judges. The ride for the judges was “firm, almost sporty” and the steering was weighted and responsive. 

 The Kia’s performance may have given it an upset in this category. It had the quickest 0 to 60 mph time by half a second and the shortest stop by two feet. The Forte also put up the quickest time on the figure-8 track. The transmission on streets shifted quickly, according to the judges.

The Forte’s fuel efficiency returned 24.4 mpg, and this compared well to its EPA city mpg rating of 24. The Kia has the most horsepower of its competitors and second-highest torque. Judges also noted the Forte’s rear seat space as one of the roomiest, but where the Forte shone brightest were some high-end features not found easily in its segment such as heated and cooled front seats and power-folding mirrors. In safety, the Forte earned five stars in its side testing and four from the rollover test. 

What blew the judges away in the competition was the Forte’s overall value. The power seats, heated steering wheel and best warranty along with its fuel economy put Kia ahead in the value category.

The judges selected the Kia Forte as the best overall compact sedan in the test. Final standings were:

— 4th place: Honda Civic

— 3rd place: Dodge Dart

— 2nd place: Mazda3

Kia Sedona Bests Four Other Minivans in Motor Trend Test

2015 Sedona, available at Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield Valley, tops in handling, safety

The 2015 Kia Sedona — available at Jim Butler Kia in Chesterfield Valley — emerged victorious in Motor Trend’s Big Test for 2015 minivans. The judges of the competition rated the vans on their ride and handling, performance, efficiency, cockpit/cabin, safety and value.

The competitors for the Kia Sedona were the Chrysler Town & Country, Nissan Quest, Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey. For the ride and handling portion, a drive loop located in a Los Angeles suburb was the location. The loop also included standard stop-and-go traffic, highway speeds and even a rough section of road. The judges named the Sedona the top in this portion as it was “actually a lot of fun” according to one judge. The Sedona handled the twisty and rough portions of the road extremely well. This is thanks in part to the suspension of the 2015 Sedona that helps cornering performance.

Speaking of performance, the Kia Sedona had the shortest stopping distance from 60 to zero at 118 feet. Despite having the smallest engine of the five vans, the 2015 Sedona’s 3.3-liter V6 engine still packs 276 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 7.8 seconds. In fuel efficiency, the Sedona outperformed its EPA estimations with a 17.3 mpg city, 23.8 mpg highway and 19.7 mpg combined.

No matter if you have children or are waiting for them, the Kia Sedona’s cabin/cockpit was the judges’ choice for nicest cabin. This was thanks in part to Nappa leather, real wood and a segment-best infotainment system. Behind the front seats, the Sedona has one of the most comfortable second rows of the group.

 

The 2015 Sedona earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety Top Safety Pick. It earned a good (best possible) score on moderate-overlap front, side-impact, rear-impact, roof strength and the small-overlap front collision tests.

For value, the Kia “blew the judges away” with its technology and content. Not only did the Sedona's cabin feature Nappa leather, but it also featured those trick second-row lounge seats, a 360-degree camera system and collision mitigation technology.

NBA’s Blake Griffin stars in new multi-platform campaign for 2015 Kia Optima

NBA all-star Blake Griffin continues to showcase his comedic talents in an all-new advertisement campaign for the 2015 Kia Optima — available at Jim Butler Kia, the St. Louis Kia Superstore.

Griffin enters his fourth campaign for Kia as a global brand ambassador. His deadpan delivery and comedic skills take center stage — other than maybe the 2015 Optima — in a series of three 60 and 30-second commercials, the first to air on Christmas Day during NBA coverage. In the latest batch of ads, Griffin headlines as the lead actor in big-budget action movies spanning ancient Rome, the Old West and an aircraft carrier.

Griffin improvises the script of each movie and ditches the scripted method of transportation for a brand new Kia Optima. The commercials will air on TV, the Internet and through various social media elements. The first 60-second spot entitled “The Showdown” can be viewed on YouTube. The other commercials will air on television during the NBA season.
