EV6 Sets Guinness Charging Record On Cross-Country Trip

During the 2021 Los Angeles Auto Show, it was announced that the production model EV6 beat Tesla in fast charging, and did so during a journey across the entire United States. The achievement was even recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records!

During the week it took to complete this task, the EV6 required only 7 hours, 10 minutes, and 1 second for fast charging, which officially beat previous record-holder Tesla by more than five and a half hours. The total driving distance was 2,880 miles, and the average charging stop was less than 20 minutes.

The EV6 stopped for charging around 22 times, which would average once around every 131 miles. This Guinness World Record performance confirms the amazing potential of Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, and it’s impressive to note this was while using only the general charging infrastructure. Kia will no doubt continue its place and position as a recognized leader for electric development, as more vehicles will make the switch to an electric power source.

The Kia EV6 is a fairly large car, standing out in a sea of smaller offerings. Combined with its height and long roof, the EV6 enjoys a visually sporty stance, and the top-speed for the thrilling GT-line is 114 mph. The Motor Trend team loved the EV6’s sharp steering and linear front-end response, all while weighing in at 4,376 pounds. The ride is smooth and comfortable in any environment you want to take it!

The EV6-GT-line comes standard with lane keep assist, blind-spot warning, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and intelligent LED headlights. The EV6 almost drives itself, and you can fine-tune the responses to suit your own personal taste and drive. Six regenerative braking levels are offered on the EV6, ranging from zero-level to one-pedal driving, as well as an auto mode.

Kia Niro Set a Guinness World Record

The 2017 KIA Niro is breaking records with its performance capabilities!

Back in December, the KIA Niro, KIA’s Crossover Hybrid Vehicle, took home a Guinness World Record title for the lowest fuel consumption for driving across the United States. It drove from Los Angeles to New York City with an amazing 76.6 MPG, making this the new record-setting mark!

Wayne Gerdes of Carlsbad, California and Robert Winger of Williamsburg, Virginia traveled from the West Coast to the East Coast in the Niro EX (total of 3,715.4 miles) on just 48.5 gallons of gas – that’s just 4.1 tanks!

“We’re extremely pleased with the Niro’s record-breaking performance,” stated Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning KMA. “We set out to build a vehicle that offers real-word utility, great looks and fantastic mileage, and setting the Guinness World Record title confirms our achievement.”

The KIA Niro is the first of its kind. It has closed the gap between outstanding fuel economy and compact crossover utility, as well as creating an ultimate driving experience for all St. Louis drivers.

Its high-efficiency 1.6L GDI engine and a smooth-transitioning dual-clutch automatic transmission contribute to this truly unique driving experience.

The KIA Niro will provide any St. Louis driver with pure fun and fuel efficiency behind the wheel, so be on the lookout because the 2017 Niro should be rolling into Jim Butler KIA soon!
