Resourceful & Rolling Revelry: The 2024 Kia Carnival – Where Capability Meets Class!

We have had many busy families on the go here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis and none of them were used to using the word “attractive” when talking about minivans. That is until they were introduced to the Carnival. The 2024 Kia Carnival has some very attractive qualities, a good deal of standard features, along with industry-leading warranty coverage. It is a class-leading member of the “MPV” crew, displaying multi-purpose and clever styling at every turn!

The Car and Driver experts are used to sharing test drive results for supercars, high horsepower levels, and aggressive rides with top-notch handling. However, they were incredibly enthusiastic about the Carnival, heralding its “unobtrusive powertrain, nicely tuned ride and handling, and handsome styling.” They declared it ideal for the times when an SUV just “isn’t handy enough”. The Carnival’s comfortable and value-packed space even wears a crossover-inspired look that assists a commanding first impression.

The first area where the Carnival excels over the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey is space: with its low-load floor and tall roof, there is more than enough for any active family’s daily needs. If you opt for the second-row VIP seats, the van is quickly transformed into luxury transit that can make even the longest trips with restless young ones much easier. Each model also comes loaded with the latest infotainment options, along with watch-dog grade driver-assistance features. Everything included aligns so well with a busy family’s summer escape that the Carnival enjoyed a Car and Driver “2024 Editor’s Choice” honor.

The trim levels range from the value-focused LX to the upper-end SX Prestige. The EX proved here that it represents the true “sweet spot” that boasts extras such as a power operated lift gate, in-cabin intercom, and a very handy voice control system that allows rear-seat passengers more control. Power is sourced from a pleasantly overachieving 3.5-liter V6 that cranks out a robust 290 horsepower and is paired with an 8-speed automatic. The well-balanced ride and handling stole the show, along with the ample acceleration abilities of the V6.

When tested on the 75-mph highway fuel-economy route, the Carnival yielded 28 mpg highway, with the EPA’s official ratings residing at 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined. The large-center console offers numerous places for small-item storage, accommodating the many USB drives, lost or found fingerlings, and random chargers along for the trip. The SX Prestige trim comes with high-end leather upholstery and can be spec’d with very comfy second-row seats with pop-up footrests. Another great option for maximizing the Carnival’s vacation appeal is the panoramic sunroof, allowing for awesome visuals and fresh air for second-row occupants.

During testing, the Car and Driver crew were able to squeeze 14 suitcases behind the third row, and 48 in total after folding all the seats down. The infotainment screens that come with any new vehicle are one of the most crucial selling points in the current market. Much like powertrain specs on cars are more athletic, screen size allows the driver and passengers to know they'll be properly entertained for the whole journey. The Carnival comes with a single 8-inch infotainment screen standard, along with two optional 12.3-inch displays on the front dashboard. Another of the SX Prestige trim’s upper-end features is a crisp 12-speaker Bose stereo, along with the SX’s optional rear-seat entertainment system.

Braggin’ Wagon: KIA Sedona Named ‘Ultimate Minivan’ by Cars.com and MotorWeek

Winner of the Ultimate Minivan Challenger, Sedona is a minivan that offers St. Louis families more

The award-winning 2015 KIA Sedona minivan keeps raking in the recognition as it bested four other minivans in a days-long competition from Cars.com and MotorWeek. After days of evaluation and road tests of varying road types, the KIA Sedona won the Ultimate Minivan Challenge.

Before the road tests began, the minivans were judged on their technology, features and drivetrains. Experts and professionals from Cars.com and MotorWeek teamed up to closely examine these family vehicles. But it wasn’t just the pros’ findings that determined the winners. Opinions from real owners and potential customers for minivans were taken into account. If both the experts and customers picked the KIA Sedona, then you know it’s got to be good!

Beauty is only skin-deep, though. Great looks and features on any car are nothing without good handling and ride. A course of 135 miles was the testing ground for KIA, Toyota, Chrysler, Dodge and Honda minivans. Road types varied on the drives, and the judges drove the minivans back-to-back-to-back on the same pavement to measure the ride, handling, comfort, acceleration and more.

“The all-new Kia Sedona is a champion of quality and refinement,” Patrick Olsen, Cars.com editor-in-chief, said. “A great ride combined with a quiet cabin and numerous innovative features made the Sedona an obvious selection as the ultimate minivan.”

Why the Sedona won “Ultimate Minivan”

The judges were impressed by the Sedona’s style and looks, saying that the Sedona is the best-looking minivan and makes the minivan cool to drive. Cars.com and MotorWeek were also pleased with KIA’s ride and steering.

The Sedona stood out among the competition with its long list of features, most notably the Surround View Monitor to help with parking situations and standard heated and cooled front seats. The Sedona’s second-row seats are “magnificent ... Passengers will call shotgun to sit there, not up front” according to Kelsey Mays, senior editor for Cars.com.

This award adds to the Sedona’s trophy case this year. KIA’s minivan already won the J.D. Power APEAL award along with being named on of Ward’s 10 Best Interiors for the 2015 model year. With recognition such as this, the Sedona is ready to be your next family vehicle! Contact Jim Butler KIA in Chesterfield Valley to test drive one of these award-winners today!

Sedona Ranks Highest in Minivan Segment for J.D. Power APEAL Award

Industry recognition latest for KIA minivans amid its record-setting sales year

The 2015 KIA Sedona is living up to its billing as a minivan that does and offers more.

J.D. Power awarded the Sedona minivan with its Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) award for the minivan segment. Sedona bested rivals such as Honda, Nissan and Chrysler to take home the hardware.

The J.D. Power APEAL study measures new-vehicle owners’ overall satisfaction with their vehicles in the first 90 days of ownership. The results are divided into 10 categories and weighted accordingly: exterior, interior, storage, audio, seats, heating and ventilation, driving dynamics, powertrain, visibility, and fuel economy.

“The redesign of Sedona ... is an extraordinary success story for the Kia brand,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president of product planning for Kia Motors America, said. “Sedona’s superior combination of a strong, confident design, advanced safety features, and premium amenities, is revolutionizing the minivan segment.”

A new Sedona presents so much more than a minivan for St. Louis families. A standard 3.3-liter V6 engine can certainly excite drivers, and the first-class “lounge seating” and CUV-like appearance means a minivan that breaks the mold.

The 2015 KIA Sedona’s accolade follows up the brand’s previous award from J.D. Power. In June, KIA was ranked as the best non-luxury brand in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The same models available at Jim Butler KIA in Chesterfield Valley beat out juggernauts such as BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Buick.

KIA Uncovers Specifications, Features for 2016 Sedona

Slight improvements to overall experience include standard back-up camera across all trims

For those in St. Louis who love minivans yet still want a bit more, the 2016 KIA Sedona is just around the corner! KIA has presented an overview of the latest version of its award-winning multi-purpose vehicle and included powertrain, structural, safety and technology specifications.

2015 KIA Sedona
The old cliche “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” certainly holds true for the 2016 Sedona. No major changes were made to the already great 2015 Sedonas at Jim Butler KIA in Chesterfield Valley, but there’s always room for improvement, and KIA made limited changes to its minivan with more.

One change that does stand out, though, is the standard back-up camera across all five trims (L, LX, EX, SX and SXL). This puts a great safety feature in the hands of every 2016 Sedona owner from the entry trim to the highest package. The grand SXL trim sees some exterior additions with an offering of side sills with chrome accents that complement the standard 19-inch chrome wheels according to KIA.

Under the hood, the 2016 Sedona comes with a six-speed Sportmatic automatic transmission mated with a 3.3-liter V6. The V6 is capable of up to 276 horsepower and 248 lb.-ft. of torque.

First-class interior returns

The Sedona breaks the norm of stale and sometimes uncomfortable minivans with its first-class, award-winning interior. The lounge-style seating offers passengers amazing legroom and provides retractable leg rests and airplane-style winged headrests.

Some styles feature second-row seat cushion heaters for added comfort. The 2016 Sedona SXL trim features standard ultra-soft Nappa leather trim seating surfaces throughout the cabin, the same kind found in the luxurious K900.

Both seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations are available on the ’16 Sedona, while the EX trim level now has standard heated front seats. The L and LX trims are said to have an update on the cloth material’s pattern, and the SX and SXL trim will have eight-passenger seating when equipped with the technology package.

The 2016 Sedona earned itself a NHTSA 5-star overall vehicle safety rating, and a variety of safety and convenience features are available for the new Sedona such as the Surround View Monitor, Vehicle Stability Management (VSM), Forward Collision Warning System (FCWS), Smart Cruise Control (SCC), Blind Spot Detection (BSD) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert.

With these slight changes and upgrades, 2016 KIA Sedona makes the perfect road trip companion or family vehicle! While no release date has been announced, St. Louis KIA fans could expect to see the ’16 Sedona at Jim Butler KIA in Chesterfield Valley by the end of the year.
