During the exciting live broadcast of the 74th Emmy Awards on NBC, it was made official that the 2023 Telluride will now include a brand-new X-Pro Model, built specifically for conquering demanding adventures far off the beaten path. 

The Telluride was Kia’s excellent opportunity to take the brand to a very exciting and successful new status and show everyone just how durable and capable the X-Pro will be. As they come up on a clearing, they come to a stop where painters are working on a rendition of the actual sky itself, then lament to each other that the Telluride is so capable that they mistakenly “went too high”. 

In addition to this entertaining spot, the Telluride X-Pro is going to be featured as part of a quirky new in-show installment that will highlight the effectiveness of using one scenario with different actors engaging in completely different approaches to the topic. New for the 2023 model is updated front and rear bumpers, an updated grille, redesigned vertical LED headlights, and new wheel designs for each trim level. You’ll be boosting your drive-time productivity and location scouting with the 12.3-inch curved navigation, gauge-cluster displays, and a larger head-up display. 

The Motor Trend team claimed that the current-year Telluride is “through and through a premium product, providing high levels of quality, style, features, and refinement minus the premium price tag”. The 3.8-liter naturally aspirated V6 is still on deck for the 2023 model, cranking out 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, while paired to the 8-speed automatic. Kia EV6 GT Prepares to Make History as Kia’s Most Powerful Production Vehicle Ever During Monterey Car Week

Last week in beautiful Monterey, California, Kia gave North American auto enthusiasts their first look at the 576-horsepower EV6 GT performance crossover during “the Quail” official Motorsports Gathering. This officially presented the incoming model alongside true supercars from other locations all over the globe, and marks the thrilling beginning of the Plan S electrification phase for us here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis. 

Kia Executive Vice President Steven Center exclaimed last week that “This release will elevate the EV6’s standout performance and effortless drivability beyond expectations while moving toward our tailpipe 0 emissions goals.” Riding on the award-winning E-GMP modular platform, the EV6 GT offers a fine-tuned preview of the future of electric performance vehicles. The EV6 joins (and leads!) the scene of the current electric vehicle formal ballroom with its dual-motor AWD powertrain, and 77.4 kWh Nickel-Cobalt-Manganese battery back, together busting out a combined power output of 430 kilowatts and 546 lb-ft of torque. 

Aligned with the gritty sentiment and pavement-ready thrills of previous top models, the EV6 GT now completes the zero to 60 mph dash in just 3.4 seconds, with a top speed of 161 mph. 2021 Kia K5 Post Motor1.com Test-Drive: “Sharp and Sporty, and Loaded with Style”

Jeff Perez was eager to “pour one out for the Kia Optima” in the form of celebration and praise last week on the Motor1.com blog for sweeping the core values of the Optima and coming up with a sedan that dials things up a notch in the style department. Solid equipment, a comfortable ride, and loads of safety features carry over to the new K5, coming for the 2021 model year. Boasting visually-appealing new elements like sharp LED “Heart Beat” amber running lights, a slimmed-down “Tiger Nose” grille, and a full-width light bar in the rear, Jeff claims there that the K5 looks even better than the crosstown competitor Mazda6!

The Motor1.com team tested both the GT-Line and the EX, which came with an eye-catching blue paint job and 18-inch wheels. They had to admit that the GT-line looked even better with sporty cues such as a shark skin-inspired grille mesh, 18-inch wheels, and exhaust tips with aggressive new styling. The K5 GT-Line also gets a Wolf Gray paint job that some even thinks draws influences from legendary trackster Porsche. The interior on the GT line is the only trim that now comes standard with red, faux leather seats, a flat-bottomed, leather-stitched steering wheel, and a shifter with aluminum fixtures.

 

The EX model seems at first more basic in appearance, but it does offer a few materials that are more high-quality. There is the addition of standard black leatherette, soft black plastic on the door panels, aluminum and wood trim on the dash, and piano black plastic around the touchscreen and instrument cluster that feels more durable to the Motor1.com team that what is found in the GT-Line. Carbuzz.com Features Kia Stinger GT Indigo Edition With Drift Mode

We have really enjoyed the excitement and buzz surrounding the release of the Stinger: It is, by all means, one of the best-looking sedans on the market, and a true testament to what can be accomplished with in-depth engineering. The staff on duty at the Carbuzz.com blog provided a feature this week about the special edition of the Stinger that will be limited to just 500 units, each even equipped with drift mode. The next generation will see more power combined with its aggressive new looks and has already been spotted testing on the track.  

The special edition is loosely based on the regular GT AWD, but with a few other changes inside and out. Deep Chroma Blue is the color that it will come in, with a very unique metallic finish. There is now no longer a premium trim with the 4-cylinder, instead, the GT-Line offers the Sun and Sound package that sees the addition of the Premium's content and includes navigation, LED headlamps, and sunroof along with the 8.0-inch display. Incoming 2021 Kia Sedona Spy Shots Revealed Via Motor1.com

The rise of crossovers and SUVs has been so evident the past few years that many families are choosing them as their prime means of transportation. Here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis, we find that totally understandable, but we're here on the blog today to remind you that the “Grand Utility Vehicle” in the form of the Sedona looks great in these teaser images offered up from the folks on staff at Motor1.com this past week. It now has slimmed-down LED headlights and a revised “Tiger nose” grille featuring vertical slats.

The front bumper now has an all-new look and the mirrors are now placed lower on the doors. Some of our other sources have told us that the overhauled minivan will grow in size a bit through a stretched wheelbase, which makes the way for a more spacious interior cabin. While these particular photos don't show much of the rear end, the spy shots do show the taillights in a configuration a bit flatter than the outgoing model. The US-spec minivan will most likely premiere in the months to come and could very well make an appearance at the Los Angeles Auto Show in late November.

The staff with years of experience on duty at The Car Connection praised this model for its comfortable ride, spacious interior, practicality, and an excellent warranty. The Sedona seats up to eight with plenty of cubbies for devices and storage, and every van is equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen with smartphone software, Bluetooth connectivity, and more than ample space. When properly equipped, the Sedona can tow up to 3,500 lbs, which is enough for a small trailer or various toys on their way out to the lake. The Car Connection testing crew also claimed that “there's no distance we couldn't comfortably travel in a well-equipped 2021 Sedona”, as rows one and two get more than 40 inches of legroom for riders and row three still measures nearly 35 inches. With all of the seats down, the Sedona fits up to 142 cubic feet of cargo, and the IIHS has good things to say about it. When equipped properly, the Sedona's automatic emergency braking system earned the very top “Superior” score at avoidance of forward crashes with another car at both 12 and 25 mph.

Carbuzz.com Delivers Specific Details on Kia K5 Arrival Dates

Jared Rozenholtz of Carbuzz.com was hard at work on assignment this week for their blog and when he was asked about the arrival of the Kia K5 he responded: “It's coming very soon”. Kia first showed off the next-generation Optima towards the end of 2019 via the reveal of the K5 in the Korean market. Based on spy shots from various internet sites, the US-spec model has been expected to shed the Optima name in favor of the K5 in the United States market. Promising a sleek and slightly lower-budget option for those who are in love with the Stinger, we expect the sedan to breathe an abundance of life and fire into a market still desperate for just this, “a killer car”.

It was several months ago that the K5 was shown in Korea, and everyone here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis has been eagerly awaiting the announcement about a specific release date. Now it seems the wait is over, and the official debut date has been released as June 30, 2020. This news was via an official email from Kia that began with the statement “It's been a while and we have news to share.” This particular email does not reference the car by its exact name, attempting one last go at keeping things a mystery, but it does include a small teaser that clearly shows a sedan with all the features of the already-seen Korean specific model.

We expect the North American debut to take place at 2:00 PM Eastern time. Engine options will be the 2.5-liter 4-cylinder that cranks out 191 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque or the 1.6-liter turbo-four that cranks out 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque, both shared with the mechanically similar Hyundai Sonata. This year for the first time ever the new car is expected to brandish the all-wheel-drive option with the 1.6-liter engine. We still aren't sure if the GT will just see the unveiling of the standard model, or if the GT variant will accompany it right out of the gate.

The GT is expected to use the identical 2.5-liter turbo-four as the upcoming Hyundai Sonata N-line, which cranks out around 290 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque. The GT will most likely have AWD, and the fine details on pricing could be revealed on the 30^th as well. Cloth, simulated leather, and genuine leather are available in single and two-tone cabin color schemes, and the rendering of trim and accents is finished with polished metallic simulated wood and gloss black depending on the model. New voice recognition technology onboard allows the driver to control the stereo, climate system, power windows, and heated/ventilated seats, and there is also the available option of the 12-speaker Bose premium surround sound system.

Drive Mode Select offers five driving modes: Eco, Comfort, Sport, Smart, and Custom. Highlights regarding advanced driving assist systems include adaptive cruise control, front and rear collision warning, automatic front and rear emergency braking, blind-spot warning with active intervention, lane departure warning with lane-keeping assistance, and rear cross-traffic warning. Longer, wider, and a bit lower than the Optima it is replacing, the Kia K5 also has new LED “heartbeat” daytime running lights in the front and rear, and is bound to win over anyone who still has an intense love for a connection to the road that does not have to be quenched by means of the ever-popular crossover SUV!

2020 Kia Forte GT Post Road Show Test Drive: “Charming, Good-Looking and Competent”

The staff on duty at Cnet Roadshow have always cranked out auto journalism that is higher caliber than the rest, and here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis, we have always looked forward to their insight and individuality. This past week they took on the 2020 Kia Forte GT as their new test drive subject, and immediately deemed it a “performance car without the performance car price”. The snappy GT is set apart from the rest of the Forte lineup with a much sharper design and is powered by a 1.6-liter turbocharged inline-four engine that doles out 201 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque.

 

These power numbers are very similar to what is seen in the close competition of the Honda Civic Si. There is the choice of either a 6-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and an exhaust with a bit more volume and deeper tone. The GT receives a new multilink rear suspension, a replacement for the standard Forte's torsion-beam setup. Coming as standard features are Forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and a driver attention monitor, and blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are available for add-on.

The forte GT with the dual-clutch transmission nails down an EPA rating of 27 miles per gallon in the city, 35 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. On the inside, this review team gave high props to the red accents, soft texture pattern for the doors, and brushed aluminum along the dash. Normal, Sport, and Smart driving modes allow for switching up of the driving experience, with Sport being the mode that greatly improves throttle response and adds some weight to the steering. Kia Rio Brand-new Facelift Examined Close-up by Motor1.com

The Brand new Kia Rio was first shown to the public in January of this year when spy shots of a prototype with huge amounts of camouflage were circulated over the many automotive news sources online. Now five months later, the honed-in development work on the subcompact hatchback we love so much here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis is done and everyone can take a moment to greet the new Rio face-lift. It has gained a more simplified front fascia with a slightly more aggressive and wider bumper with new fog lamp housing.

There is also the introduction of a full-LED headlight setup on every model as standard, and two new exterior colors are available plus a set of 16-inch and new 8-spoke design. Inside the cabin, the most drastic change is the larger 8.0-inch screen on the center console, and the 4.2-inch digital display in the driver's instrument cluster. The GT-Line models sport special carbon fiber-like trim, and a few new customization options are available. The most important upgrade is now hidden underneath the skin, where there is the introduction of a new 1.0-liter mild-hybrid engine to replace the Rio's earlier Kappa 1.0 T-GDi.

 

This new electrified powertrain sees the combination of an integrated starter-generator for lowered carbon dioxide emissions of approximately 8 percent with a 3-cylinder combustion engine. It will offer the same peak power as the engine before it... 100 or 120 horsepower, and be paired to a newly-developed manual transmission that provides electronic control of the clutch. This fascinating “clutch-by-wire” gearbox completes seamless integration with the mild-hybrid system to switch off the engine earlier that the start-stop function when easing to a halt. The non-hybrid 1.0-liter gasoline engine will from now on be available with a new 6-speed manual gearbox, as well as seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

There will also be the base naturally-aspirated 1.2-liter gas engine with a peak power of 84 horsepower, and this refreshed Rio is slated to go on sale in Europe during the third quarter of 2020. 2021 Kia Optima Renamed K5 for the States, AWD is a Definite

When all of us on staff here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis receive inquiries from customers and cohorts about what's happening and what's around the corner in the auto realm, we've found that Car and Driver is a great source for details. They ran a feature on their blog this week describing the future of the Kia Optima and reported that they are now certain it will be renamed the K5. This Is due to the finding of an official document from the EPA that claims the Kia K5 could be used to match the name currently used by the model in Korea.

When the Car and Driver testing staff was giving the model a spin last year, the Kia rep that met up with them had hinted that this name change could occur down the road. Here in the states, the Optima has been available for four generations over two decades. The official EPA fuel-economy ratings first spotted by Motor Trend also definitely confirm the K5 will offer an all-wheel-drive option in the States. The single model officially listed has a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four, an 8-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive.

This same engine cranks out 180 horsepower, and 191 lb-ft of torque, as it also does situate in the Hyundai Sonata Sedan, which does not yet offer AWD. We expect to hear some more solid details soon, and during our web search this week found Motor Trend claiming that the new model is definitely a “big leap forward in looks and tech”. Designed with a very aggressive variant in mind, the K5 will boast new architecture developed under Albert Biermann, head of R and D and testing for the Hyundai Motor Group. As we have seen the overall popularity of trucks and SUVs rise drastically over the last decade, it is always exhilarating to witness the release of a new sedan. 2021 Kia Stinger GT Sighted Blasting Lines at Nurburgring by Motor1.com

Already receiving a refresh for 2021, the Kia Stinger GT was spotted at the famed Nurburgring track dutifully delivering its chops by the staff on hand at Motor1.com. They posted this video on their blog showing the skilled drivers putting the sedan heftily through its paces. It was still covered heavily in camouflage at the time, hiding many of the changes expected to be made to the model. The headlights and taillights are rumored to be receiving new graphics while tweaking the front-and-rear end designs.

 

This most likely also means revised intakes, reworked bumpers, and a tweaked look for the grille. Many of the online experts we have consulted here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis have suggested that the 2021 Kia Stinger GT will see a definite power bump. The twin-turbocharged 3.3-liter V6 in the Stinger GT currently cranks out 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque, while the updated number allegedly makes 380 horsepower and 390 lb-ft. The regular Stinger could also likely be the recipient of Hyundai's new turbocharged 2.5-liter that cranks out 290 horsepower.

Another new feature should be a variable exhaust system to help adjust the engine's note. The model comes in rear-wheel-drive with the option to upgrade to all-wheel, and inside the analog switches will most likely be done with. The infotainment screen is expected to grow to 10.25 inches, and currently, July looks like when the official reveal will take place. This other video from Carbuzz.com shows the red Stinger that was spied being tested in Europe earlier this month. This one was fitted with quad exhaust outlets and was taking corners just as snugly as ever.

Most of the rumors we have heard are currently ruling out the possibility of new engines, but the existing turbocharged 2.0-liter and 3.3-liter mills are expected to see some tuning for a little more kick. For the current model, the GT Line now offers a Sun and Sound package that adds Premium's content and also comes with a sunroof, a larger 8.0-inch infotainment display, navigation, LED headlamps, and Harman/Kardon Stereo, power-adjustable steering column, ventilated front seats, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and a driver attention monitor. One this test drive the Car and Driver staff also claimed that the rear seat is better than many cars in this class, and key safety features include standard blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert as well as lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist.

First up is a PHEV or dedicated plug-in hybrid EV. According to the experts over at Green Car Reports, it is on track to be offered solely as a plug-in model. The first thing that he commented on was the overall delivery of the product, touting excitedly that this is “Something that will make you rethink Toyota and Honda ownership for good.” Everyone on duty here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis agrees with William here that the Telluride is our means of penetrating the lucrative segment of SUV ownership.

Motor1.com Claims More Power, Variable Exhaust on the Way For 2021 Kia Stinger

Adrian Padeanu of Motor1.com admitted that he was pleased that Kia “dared to introduce a sporty liftback in an SUV-obsessed world”, and reported last week on the mid-cycle refresh taking place for the Stinger's 2021 release. A new report from South Korean magazine Top Rider claims that there will be quite a few changes for the new facelift. As far as the power department is concerned, the range-topping GT model will now put to use an upgraded version of the existing twin-turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine.

Due to this step up, the output is expected to grow from the current 365 horsepower and 376 lb-ft of torque to 380 hp and 390 lb-ft. This pleasant jump in output will be also complemented by the company's very first implementation of a variable exhaust system with adjustable flaps to make changes to the piping sound. 2021 Kia Seltos Post Victory Spin Via Motor Trend: “Red Hot in the Style Department, Most Precise Steering out There”

The subcompact SUV segment has surely been on fire for the last five years, and our prized 2021 Kia Seltos is on the national list but is a bit larger than some in the group. Very attractive looks and a roomy interior are two characteristics that set it apart a bit from the pack, with some of those peering over the fence in terms of the competition being the Chevy Trailblazer, Toyota C-HR, Ford EcoSport, and Nissan Kicks.

Motor Trend's Miguel Cortina had a chance over the past week to test a Seltos SX with the 1.6-liter turbo and was pleased right off the bat with the way it handled around the track. Sporting a shared platform with the smaller Soul and Kona, the Seltos has longer proportions that allow for a roomy cargo and cabin area. Drawing a direct comparison to the popular Honda HR-V, Miguel reflected that the Seltos has slightly more cargo room, thanks to the versatile cargo floor, which can be lowered to gain valuable volume. Some of the largest points scored for practicality was regarding the rear seats: besides folding nearly flat, they recline for a more comfortable position during a long haul.

The suspension is well-tuned to absorb most bumps and ruts, and on twisty roads, it doled out very low body roll and high-end grip. This troupe drove the Seltos with the independent rear suspension, which now only comes standard in the all-wheel-drive model, front-drive Seltos models come with the torsion beam suspension. They felt that the 1.6-liter turbo was punchy and adequate for city driving, and were impressed by the 7.3 seconds it took to get to 60 mph, impressive for any Subcompact number.

Road test editor Chris Walton described the Seltos as “surprisingly quick”, and appreciated its very smooth manner of upshifting and straight-line acceleration abilities. Normal, Sport, and Smart are the available driving modes, and Sport is where you really get to let out the naturally-aspirated aggression. It offers up a perfectly stiff and weighted feel, and the Smart mode is a clever combination of both that senses whether you are in a conservative, sporty, or aggressive driving mode. The 10.3-inch screen is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, with high ease of use and quick response rate. The UVO Link on board is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home, so you can request from Alexa to handle climate control settings.

Many of the features where Motor Trend felt Kia really upped our game were interior related. Three USB ports, heated front seats, a wireless phone charger, and a Bose premium audio system connected to ambient lighting are all amazing features for the price. Styling, size, and practicality all make the Seltos a great choice, and with all-wheel-drive offered below the Sportage, all of us here at Jim Butler Kia of St Louis have noticed that this is a huge draw. “Truth About Cars” Calls 2020 Kia Telluride SX “Charming, Remarkable, and Masculine”

Writer Tim Healy of “The Truth About Cars” blog took a minute to reflect at the beginning of his current article about the Kia Telluride that his first drive of one last year proved to him that Kia's introduction of this vehicle was “Definitely remarkable”. This time he got to use the Telluride for a week as opposed to a day and went for the top-trim SX with all-wheel drive. The engine onboard is a 3.8-Liter V6 that cranks out 291 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque.

Fuel economy rings in at 19 mpg city/ 24 mpg highway/ 21 mpg combined. The SX that Tim got to test sported 20-inch blacked-out wheels that replaced the 18-inch wheels found as standard on the EX, LED headlights and fog lamps, rear sunroof, second-row captain's chairs, 12-way power driver's seat, memory for the driver's seat and side-view mirrors, blind-spot monitoring, surround-view camera, premium audio, park-distance warning, and HomeLink. He said he would not want to do without the Prestige Package: it adds a head-up display, 110-volt inverter, Nappa leather, premium cloth for the headliner and visors, heated and cooled second-row seats, and rain-sensing windshield wipers.

The layout of controls is a very important quality of a vehicle: once the driver gets inside and is ready to go, they enjoy a logical and easy-to-use structure. The Telluride has two rows of buttons on the center stack, and faux wood trim that is visually appealing and gives an earthier rather than “cold steel” appearance. As far as the all-important factor of “having fun” during his drives, this is where he really enjoyed himself, and with minimal body roll could really enjoy the firm and grippy steering. He appreciated the fact that there was not the “large vehicle float” sensation common in 3-row crossovers and claims that it is dynamically sound enough that it suggests that some other automakers “weren't even trying with their land barges.”
